You don't use gpsbable or any other software on your Macintosh. To delete the POI's from your "MY Collection" with BaseCamp for Macintosh, you are going to have to select "My Collection" and then select the POI's you want to delete and you use the delete key as mentioned above. Moving that file to the trash is only the first step, with the Dakota drive mounted on the desktop, you will also have to empty the trash or they will still be on the card taking up space as an invisible reclaimable file it the ~/.Trash folder Will your trick work on removing the same POI's from "My Collection" in Basecamp? Now when I use my GPS the POI's have disappeared. Open the Garmin Folder, then open the POI folder within, and drag the poi.gpi file into the trash bin. However, I have managed to rid these pesky POI's from my GPS by plugging my Garmin Dakota 20 into my iMac open Finder, and clicking on the Garmin device. Hope this explains my predicament more clearly. The problem is that you cannot slect them in the same way that you can select a waypoint, and therefore you are not given the option to wipe the critters off. What I would like to do is connect my gps to my Mac, open Basecamp, select the POI's (as you would be able to do for a waypoint, and nuke the POI's. Having downloaded some to the Mac, and subsequently downloaded them to my GPS via Basecamp, I cannot use Basecamp to "manage" them. I should have explained that I am trying to delete Points of Interest, things like petrol (gas) station, shops and other commercial facilities, who have promoted their businesses by supplying their details to various websites that offer POI's.
I'm using an iMac, running OSX10.5.8, and as you've suggested, I have no problems deleting geocaches, waypoints, etc from Basecamp once selected, I just press the delete key and they disappear. On a Mac the delete key deletes them all. Define poi's or do you mean waypoints? they show in BaseCamp right, so it wouldn't matter if they were geocaches, waypoints, geotagged photos.
